ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the income tax return 2024 last date to October 31, following requests from trade associations and Tax Bar Associations. Previously set for October 14, the tax return last date 2024 was extended to accommodate taxpayers facing challenges.
The FBR issued a notification under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, stating that individuals required to file returns by September 30, 2024, now have until October 31, 2024, to do so. This extension came after the FBR initially announced that no further deadline extensions would be granted. Earlier, the FBR urged taxpayers to file their returns promptly to avoid penalties.
Many taxpayers had speculated about an extension due to technical issues with the FBR’s system, which faced heavy loads. Despite these challenges, over 3.5 million returns were successfully submitted, primarily from salaried individuals.
